American Made: Whistling Gulf Signature

Thanks to some good friends, I ran across Whistling Gulf on the web the other day.  Three Texas boys making some pretty good looking tees. I know that I'm going to be checking one of the shirts out.  It might be worth your while to do the same.

It’s Gotta Get Warmer Someday

Living in Texas, I get a lot of people scoffing at the idea that it gets cold here...they obviously haven't heard about the Texas Panhandle weather.  If you would have been here in the winter of '82, you would have been finding a way out, as quickly as humanly possible.  Nevertheless, it hasn't been a bear of a winter here so far, but I'm still dreaming of warmer times.  These are the t-shirts that I'm wearing in those dreams. 1. Avid Gear | Florida Lobster AviDry Long Sleeve - We've mentioned Avid here before and AviDry is extremely cool. 2. Tidal Marsh | Backin' Down a Billfish...

Time For An Upgrade: Your Travel Kit

My grandfather worked with leather.  He made everything from belts to briefcases.  His hand-tooling was some of the best around, and his chinks and chaps are still a sought after item around here.  That's why I can appreciate an item like this, from Frank Clegg Leatherworks. The Signature Travel Kit from Frank Clegg is a classic.  Made from vegetable-tanned leather, this kit would be an instant upgrade to whatever you're carrying your necessities in now.  With a washable interior lining, the inside might last just as long as the outside is going to. This item might not have any hand-tooling,...

Onward Reserve: Barbour Offerings

I am a confessed vest junkie.  Unless it's just absolutely blowing snow, with a negative windchill, I would much rather have a vest on than I would a jacket or coat.  Needless to say, I'm always on the hunt for a new vest. With the way that my friend over at Red Clay Soul goes on about Barbour, and with the unparalleled offerings that Onward Reserve brings to the table, it only makes sense that I think I've found a new "sleeveless jacket" that I just have to have...the Barbour Dunmoor Gilet Vest. At $229.00, the price is a bit steep.  One needs to keep in mind though, that this IS a product...

Concord Button Downs

If you're looking for some shirts to steam head-long into the winter with, this is where you should be looking.  Concord Button Downs.  Made in Massachusetts, Concord Button Downs are sourced, cut and sewn in the United States of America. Being made in America isn't where CBD draws the line though.  In an effort to try and give back, they have partnered with a local non-profit called Ellen's Heart and Soul.  This certain organization works to help improve the lives of women battling breast cancer...something very important to me. All in all, if you're buying from CBD, you are supporting...

Southern Point Co. Fall Lineup

Recently, the folks from Southern Point Co. released their 2012 Fall Line.  Although it hasn't hit Southern Point's website yet, it will here shortly.  So, to give you a bit of a jump (if you haven't already seen it on their Facebook page) we want to highlight a few of the items that caught our eye. In the front of the pack is SPC's Hadley shirt.  You'll remember from a previous post, that I highlighted their signature woven shirts.  I expect this fall to be no different.  While I haven't gotten my hands on one of these, like the Sporting Tattersall yet, I hope to very soon. Up...

Repealing Female Prohibitions: Moonshine Cologne

I think that the average male generally has around four or five different bottles of cologne stashed in his cabinets.  That's fine and well, but throughout my life, I've never been a huge cologne guy.  Normally, I only keep three species in my rotation.  I keep some Polo Black around because it has a nice blend of spices and a hint of citrus to it.  I also like to occasionally indulge in some Abercrombie Fierce, when I'm feeling younger than my age, but my number one and everyday preference is Eternity for Men.  This is basically due to two reasons: 1. Eternity for Men isn't overpowering...
